The third and final part of 'the Kite Runner'

Well, we've finished 'The Kite Runner' and here's what I got.
I am actually a little disappointed by the ending of this book. It got too... legal, and then there was an attempt to give it some emotion. It just didn't quite work for me. The events seemed rushed. The characters ended up being not-so believable. and now I feel like a picky and over-analytical reader. Poop.
So... Assef got justice. Sort of. One-eyed Assef. Lucky thing that Sohrab was just as good as Hassan with a slingshot? Coincidence? Cliche? Well, I think it was a bit cheesy.

(side note: the suspicions that the Taliban were still following them never really got addressed right?
"Sometimes people just wandered into the room, like the tall, bearded man who walked in jut before Farid and Sohrab arrived. He wore a brown blanket wrapped around him. Aisha asked him something in Urdu. He paid her no attention and scanned the room with his eyes. I thought he looked at me a little longer than necessary. When the nurse spoke to him again, he just spun around and left." pg.300
"'I don't think you'll be safe here for long,' Farid said. He lowered his voice. 'The Taliban have freinds here. They will start looking for you.'
'I think they already may have,' I murmured. I thought suddenly of the bearded man who'd wandered into the room and just stood there staring at me." pg. 304
That's all that's mentioned of him. Would have made for a good story piece. Lose ends that the author never cleared up, I suppose? Hmm...)

Well yea...

Whoa.

So... I really can't find anything to respond to... so I'm responding to thin air!
"

                                                                            "
I so totally agree with this post it's scary.  I'm speechless. It's a perfect commentary on life, and also reminded me of Cristian's work of art that he showed to me in his sketchbook. Have him show it to you later. It's so awesome.

Okay, you caught me, here's the REAL response post. Sheesh... can't take a joke?

It is from Cristian's blog so be warned, because this dude is brilliant.
All i can say is wow. There is a lot of crazy things that happen to Amir, and his wife, and Hassan. I truly believe that the main theme of this book has something to deal within the realm of love. There are so much things that represent love. Validation and love have a border that is either very blurry or very defined. In this book The Kite Runner, Amir tells a story of his life and the encounters of love he has.
So, I do kinda agree with his point that it's been a lot about love, but not completely. I think love is an underlying note in this story, and not the main focus. Since Cristian wrote about love in the book, I'm going to keep this post mostly about this though. Love has to be in every book right? It's not got that same spice, that same zest about reading it. "I went to the grocery store and saw a woman holding pineapples" does not have the same appeal as "I went to the grocery store and saw a beautiful woman holding pineapples. As soon as I saw her my jaw dropped; I had found the girl I wanted to be with for the rest of my life." now does it? It of course is a key element of a novel. It's like glue when your shoe falls apart cause you've stepped in.. well, never mind that. So... yea.

Response Post :P

So... I found Ashli's blog post... yes...

Every one is protesting about how Johannes Mehserle should deserve more than two years in jail, and [protesters] think that the gun enhancement law should been applied. Since, Mehserle used his gun, and killed Oscar Grant. If it was not for that Mehserle was a police, he would not have sent to jail for two years. If he was not a police the gun enhancement law could of been applied.
On 5th of November, people in UK celebrate the 5th of November ---> Guy Fawkes Day, while there are helicopters    for security for the protesting for Oscar Grant / Johannes Mehserle.
I think it's interesting how Ashli connected the Grant/Mehserle case with Guy Fawkes. When you think about it, it's quite odd how the court's sentence ended up on the same day as Guy Fawkes. Though, Guy Fawkes was trying to assassinate a king, and Mehserle 'accidentally' shot Oscar Grant. I think both things were messed up. With Guy Fawkes, he was a hero, even though he failed at his assassination attempt, he started  a revolution. Sucks he had to die that way. With Grant and Mehserle, the victim is the hero. This has also started a revolution, so much so that people are willing to violently

By the way, i'm for Grant because 1) You don't need a tazer in the first place if he was already on the ground 2) A tazer feels way different from a gun 3) You don't shoot a tazer multiple times.
Also, please stop protesting violently. It messes up our city you know. Stop complaining about the economy if you're going to mess up small businesses. Go after the Mcdonalds or Walmart, kay? That is all.

Grocery Store Maagggiiiiiiiiiiiiic

I saw Cristian's blog post about grocery store storms, and it made me smile :D
All of a sudden, the flashing LED lights of the produce section flash like a police siren lights, it never ends. Then the simulated sounds of thunder ring through out the grocery store, singing a joyful tune that a "storms a brewin'". All the shoppers drop their un-purchased stuff and run to the produce section, trying to beat the rain.     Then, the exciting part happens...the rain. the rain drops down from the heavens (the sprinklers in the veggies ceiling). Then all the vegetables get up and start to sing, just like a corrupt version of everyone's favorite Veggie Tales. they all get up from their resting place and start to dance around and sing and have little communities made of one specific type of veggie. the wonderful sounds of veggies laughing and dancing fill the customers hearts with joy.
I love the grocery store storm showers. The first time I saw it, I was so surprised.  Maybe a little scared, but i think i was, what, 3? 4? I remember the joy of running to the produce as well, and watching it rain. I haven't seen the storm in so long, and I've never seen it at Safeway. which sucks. I loved the way Cristian makes it sound, as if it actually is absolute magic. The storms remind me of one store i went to, where it sounded like there cows behind the milk section. That one startled me too. I'd never ever seen (or... more like heard) one of these audible displays of cowdom before.

Yet Another Response Post

I was looking around for a post to respond to, and found one that interested me on Tram Huynh's blog
I heard somewhere that déjà vu is fate's way of telling you that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. That is why you feel like you have already been there before. You are right in line with your own destiny.
I was reading this and I went "hmm, that's not what I was told déjà vu is like." What I've known it as for all my life is that feeling that you've done something before, or been in an exact same situation. It's all too familiar. explanation, because it could just be your brain telling you "hmm, i think I've seen this before, this will be easy to process." Tram's explanation requires a little more than just brain function. I get déjà vu at least once a day, and it makes me stop and go whoa. I don't know why I get déjà vu so much, it seems like something other people don't get often. This subject totally boggles me, but I seem to know exactly when it is happening. To me déjà vu feels like a warm sensation flowing through my body for a second or two, but sometimes it's longer. I'd seriously like to look into this more, because now that I know somebody else looks at it differently, I'm beginning to question my own version of it.

Me talking about someone else talking...

I was reading my friend Susan's blog (send some good thoughts to her right now, shes sick) and found this post about a book called "Feed."
"It's a Young Adult book that takes place in the future. There are flying cars and parties on the Moon. Most of civilization at this point is living over the world- that is, communities and houses are floating above the actual Earth. People have chips installed in their brain- usually at birth to be on the safe side- that hooks into their minds and makes the internet live in their heads. This is called the Feed (because it's feeding these people media and stuff). The Feed tells people where to buy the latest clothes, where the hot spots for partying are on Mars, and what the latest, most popular songs are. The Feed also tells them what certain words mean and, if they ever actually need to know, what happened in certain periods of history. Once they have the Feed, people basically don't need to do anything but move, eat, and sleep."
It sounds like a very good book that I now intend to read. Even her post was thought provoking and I'm wondering whether or not it was bad of me to think that this might be maybe 50 years a head of what we have right now. When I think about it, I have to check my Facebook at least once a day, and it ends up consuming a lot of my time, (darn you internet.) This is exactly the kind of thing that alarms me about technology nowadays, and makes me wonder if the Government would even make this legal. Maybe. Probably. It rescheduled my train of though, as it was delayed in thinking about our silly system that is "Corporate America" that would lobby the government so our whole country is in the hands of fruit baskets.
Anyways, I absolutely want to read this now, thank you, Susan my poor sick friend, of more reading material.

I found this quote on my friend Shannon's blog and thought it had to do with our school's (ASTI) constitution.
Their reaction to the truth hurt me because I  had gone to school with them for 3 years already and they should have known me by then and I didn't know how many of the other girls in my grade or even school thought this about me. I felt like everyone I knew hated me besides my best friends. I had one of two options, to go with the rumors and let people think what they want, or to tell everyone I know that its not true and hope that will spread around fast.
I think it has to do with number 6 and 10 on the ASTI constitution. Number 6 is "Speak up for yourself and others." It doesn't say in her post if she did speak up for herself, but even if she did I have a hard time believing it would work. Although it might, you can never underestimate the cruelty of children. Scratch that, make it EVERYONE. The problem is, not every school is ASTI. ASTI is good at keeping our bullying down. That's mostly because of the size of the school and because all the teachers here actually care for their students. Number 10 on the constitution is "Resolve conflict peacefully." That's easy to do right? As long as you and the other person are in the right mindset that nobody will start screaming or throwing tables and chairs around. Shannon's idea to try and spread an anti-rumor would be peaceful. That's the best thing to do, instead of just keeping quiet, because keeping quiet means bottling feelings, and bottling feelings means an explosion of emotion. Explosions of that sort tend to be messy and take a long while to clean up. and maybe, just maybe, it starts even more rumors. Not the desired effect at all.

Odd Girl Out

I haven't really witnessed alliances like the author talks about, usually it's cliques. Cliques are different from alliances in that alliances on last until the "battle" is over. Cliques are about friends. The only "alliances" I've seen are in dodge ball. But i have been teased by cliques many times.

I hate getting teased, i don't think anyone DOES like being teased. It's very demoralizing. This is what makes most people at school self conscious. It's certainly what makes me self conscious. In this kind of situation you don't really have any options but ignore them or tease back. Comebacks. You shouldn't need to use them but when a teasing battle begins, you have to. Things shouldn't need to escalate.

I think people bully others because of their own insecurities. They feel bad about themselves so they go and take it out on others. It makes them feel better, and they think it makes them look "cool" in front of their friends.
